Tech Connection came to General Assembly with two goals. Learn more about the needs and expectations of under-represented talent in the Boston tech field, and conduct usability testing on Tech Connections current website.

Volunteers of our target audience helped us gain insight to their needs and expectations, as well as conducting website usability testing based on two main tasks, "Based on what you see on the homepage, tell us what this company/service is about." and "Make a personal profile to begin career building and job searching." 

We organized our data using an affinity diagram to identify consistent information and to help us draft our problem statement, "As an under-represented, entry level candidate in the tech field, through Tech Connection, I want to develop a relationship of trust with my recruiter so I can successfully jump start my career." 

Our users pointed out which features of the website helped and complicated the given task.

Our solution featured an easy to scan landing page that successfully summarized company mission, purpose of the service, and candidate role in the process. The solution also featured an improved profile building system with step by step narrative, ability to navigate tabs, and coach marks to keep the user informed and on track.
